Discussion
A budget amendment of $80,000 is requested to continue providing security services for The Regal Theatre in Downtown San Bernardino through the City’s existing contract with Redwood Private Security, LP. The Regal Theatre is a longstanding cultural asset within the downtown core, and ensuring its safety and continued operation directly supports the vitality and attractiveness of the area for residents and visitors alike.

To fund the extension of the agreement with Redwood Private Security, LP., staff is proposing to use the Cultural Development Fund. Per Chapter 15.57 of the Municipal Code funds are to be used for the promotion of fine art culture and other cultural enhancements as the Mayor and City Council may direct. Enhancement of cultural development is deemed to be a public benefit to all citizens of the community. By funding this essential public safety service, the City upholds its commitment to fostering a secure and welcoming environment that enables cultural venues to thrive. The $80,000 maintains the same annual cost for providing Security Services to The Regal Theatre. 2 7
