PROCLAMATION OF THE
MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL
RECOGNIZING SEPTEMBER 9, 2025, AS
CALIFORNIA’S 175TH ANNIVERSARY OF STATEHOOD
IN THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO
WHEREAS, on September 9, 1850, California was admitted as the 31st state of the United States of America, marking the beginning of 175 years of progress, resilience, and cultural richness; and
WHEREAS, the City of San Bernardino, founded in 1854, has been an integral part of California’s history, contributing to its diversity, innovation, and community spirit; and WHEREAS, California’s 175th Anniversary is an opportunity to celebrate the Golden State’s ingenuity, resilience, and sense of belonging, as well as the shared stories that connect our past to our future; and
WHEREAS, the Governor’s Office of California encourages cities to join in commemorating this milestone in conjunction with America’s upcoming 250th Anniversary of Independence, through civic engagement, storytelling, and creative partnerships; and
WHEREAS, the City of San Bernardino honors our state’s vibrant legacy by recognizing the generations who have built and shaped our community, and by recommitting ourselves to fostering unity, service, and pride for all who call California home; and WHEREAS, the City further recognizes the Native Sons of the Golden West, Arrowhead Parlor #110, for their dedication to preserving California’s history and heritage, and for their contributions to keeping alive the spirit of pride in our state’s founding and progress.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Mayor & City Council of San Bernardino do hereby proclaim September 9, 2025, as CALIFORNIA’S 175th ANNIVERSARY OF STATEHOOD in the City of San Bernardino, and encourage all residents to celebrate our history, participate in community events, and reflect on the many contributions that have made our state and our city strong.
