RESOLUTION NO. 2025-397
RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO, CALIFORNIA,
AUTHORIZING A BUDGET AMENDMENT TO INCREASE
APPROPRIATIONS IN THE FISCAL YEAR 2025/26
OPERATING BUDGET BY $204,240.27 IN EXPENDITURES
TO REFLECT FUNDING AVAILABLE UNDER THE
CITIZENS’ OPTION FOR PUBLIC SAFETY (COPS)
PROGRAM
WHEREAS, the Citizens’ Option for Public Safety (COPS) Program provides state funding to support front-line law enforcement services; and WHEREAS, during the Fiscal Year 2023/24 budget adoption process, the City of San Bernardino accepted $300,000 in COPS funding, which was later determined to total $641,808.27; and
WHEREAS, on June 5, 2024, the City Council adopted Resolution No. 2024- 134, accepting the additional $341,808.27 and authorizing the Police Department to expend the full allocation; and
WHEREAS, an unspent balance of $204,240.27 from the prior year’s COPS allocation was carried over but inadvertently not re-appropriated in the Fiscal Year 2025/26 Operating Budget; and
WHEREAS, this technical correction will ensure the City’s Operating Budget accurately reflects all funding previously accepted by the City Council and available for expenditure in accordance with the COPS Program requirements.
