RESOLUTION NO. 2026-007
A RESOLUTION OF THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO, CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZING
THE CITY MANAGER TO TERMINATE THE MONTH -TO-
MONTH LEASE AGREEMENT WITH CASA RAMONA, INC.
FOR THE PROPERTY LOCATED IN THE FIRST WARD AT 1543
W. 8TH STREET, SAN BERNARDINO, CALIFORNIA
WHEREAS, on October 2, 2024, the Mayor and City Council adopted Resolution No. 2024- 209 approving a Lease Agreement with Casa Ramona, Inc. for the property located at 1543 W. 8th Street, San Bernardino, California, for the purpose of serving as an Interim Animal Shelter Supportive Services Center; and
WHEREAS, on August 20, 2025, the Mayor and City Council adopted Resolution No. 2025-356 authorizing the City Manager to execute Amendment No. 1 to extend the Lease Agreement for an additional five years, through September 30, 2030, with a month-to-month conversion thereafter; and
WHEREAS, Amendment No. 1 was not fully executed and the Lease Agreement has continued on a month-to-month basis; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Animal Services has determined that the operational need for the off-site facility no longer exists following the completion of renovations at the main shelter; and WHEREAS, the Department of Animal Services recommends termination of the Lease Agreement and consolidation of operations to the main shelter campus for improved efficiency, animal care, public access, and safety; and
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. The City Manager is authorized to terminate the Lease Agreement with Casa Ramona, Inc. and to issue the required ninety (90) day written notice in accordance with the terms of the Lease.
SECTION 2. The City Manager is authorized to take all necessary actions to effectuate the termination, including addressing reasonable tenant repair obligations, and to execute any related documents.
SECTION 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution and the same shall become effective immediately.
