PROCLAMATION OF THE
MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL
PROCLAIMING MARCH 23-27, 2026, AS
GOVERNMENT FINANCE PROFESSIONALS WEEK
IN THE CITY OF SAN BERNARDINO
WHEREAS, the California Society of Municipal Finance Officers (CSMFO) promotes excellence in financial management for California’s local governments; and WHEREAS, government finance professionals ensure transparency, accountability, and responsible stewardship of public funds while managing complex budgets, financial reporting, and long-term fiscal sustainability; and
WHEREAS, California’s challenging fiscal environment requires expert analysis, ethical leadership, and sound financial practices to support informed policy decisions and essential public services; and
WHEREAS, the City of San Bernardino’s Finance staff consistently demonstrate these principles through their professionalism and commitment to fiscal excellence; and WHEREAS, the City of San Bernardino has earned the GFOA Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for five consecutive years (2020–2025) and the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting (2021–2024), reflecting the high quality of the City’s financial practices; and
WHEREAS, the City’s Grants Division has successfully secured eight grants totaling $13.5 million in the past year, expanding resources to better serve the San Bernardino community; and
WHEREAS, recognizing Government Finance Professionals Week during the last week of March provides an opportunity to honor these dedicated public servants; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED THAT, the Mayor & City Council of the City of San Bernardino, do hereby recognize March 23-27, 2026, as Government Finance Professionals Week and commend the City’s Finance Department and Grants Division for their outstanding service and contributions.
