Hello Lupita,
I want to thank the City Council and the residents of San Bruno for trusting the Culture and Arts Commission with this project. I want to thank the public for taking the time to make their oppinion heard. While we did a good job throughout the project, from the call for artist and ranking process, I do believe we can do better. The Culture and Arts Commission should review the entire process for improvements before the next call for artist is made.
One thing that stands out is we asked each artist to submit their cost of each proposed sculture when the call for artist was done, but cost was not included in tonights packet, nor was it made available to the commissioners. This information should have been made available.
Thank you for making art a focus, strong communities are made stronger through creative expression.
Respectfully,
Stephen Seymour

Hello Lupita,
I hope you are well and staying dry. Please find my written public comment below regarding the February 10, 2026 City Council special meeting agenda. Thank you for including this in the record.

Dear Mayor and City Council Members,
I am writing to express my appreciation for the materials prepared for the City Council’s special meeting tonight and to offer brief clarification regarding the Culture & Arts Commission’s January 15, 2026 discussion and recommendation related to the Posy Park sculpture, as presented in the special meeting agenda packet.
At that meeting, I made a motion to advance the Solomon Bassoff “Endangered Butterflies in San Bruno” proposal based on several factors discussed publicly: its strong and specific ties to San Bruno’s local ecology, its educational value in highlighting endangered species native to our area, its ability to bring color and visual interest to an otherwise muted and transitional space, and its overall distinctiveness within the City’s public art landscape. Additionally, this proposal received the highest level of public support through the community survey.
I wanted to share this context to help ensure clarity around how the Commission’s recommendation was reached. I offer this clarification in the interest of transparency and to support the City Council’s understanding of the Commission’s advisory role as you provide direction on next steps.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Respectfully,
Nicole Hanhan
Chair, San Bruno Culture & Arts Commission
