Dear Mayor Medina, Mr McIntyre, and members of the City Council, As I am unable to attend the April 28, 2026 meeting in person, I am forwarding several comments below. I will, however, be zooming in from afar.
1) After reading the press release issued by Mr McIntyre, I am astounded and tremendously disheartened that our city will soon be facing a huge potential deficit. When did our city officials hear about these serious issues, and why
are we residents just hearing about these now?
2) Nowhere in the proposed list of possible money saving ideas did I read the rescinding of dept heads’ salary increases that were recently approved. Wouldn’t one think that this would be a major way for our city to save revenue——-do not allow one raise to go forward until our budget is balanced and this massive deficit is resolved.
3) it is absolutely unthinkable that our public safety is listed as one of the areas where services might possibly be cut. To state that there should be a hiring freeze most likely means that no new officers will be hired to replace the ones we lost.

That is an unthinkable scenario. We residents are losing all trust in our city government. Public safety is never compromised. Why would you even consider cutting police and fire services? 4) I cannot express enough how much public trust in San Bruno’s officials has been lost. We have watched for months as our police still bravely do their jobs with no contract in place. Who amongst you would gladly give up your own salary to ensure that our police receive the just wages that they so deserve.

SAN BRUNO HAS SOME VERY SERIOUS SOUL SEARCHING TO DO. Please go forward with doing your darndest to ensure that our police receive their contracts now. I never thought that our police would ever be treated in such a reprehensible manner, but sadly it has happened. I am so very disappointed in and ashamed of our city government.

Respectfully,
Mrs Darlene Esola

Why did the city manager get a pay raise along with the police chief if the city has this short fall that will affect public safety?
My middle class family that pays property taxes should go to public safety, roads etc- which he is threatening to slow down. Threatening to add more taxes to these single family homes all ready struggling in the Bay Area.

Admin including him should have never been given a raise. This is negligent-
