Memorial in North Crestview Park, and gain sponsors for a new commercial district in the Northeast Area.
How can we realize Neighborhood Hubs as called for in our General Plan and “CMAP Strategy 13: Neighborhood Hubs. Encourage the establishment of “Neighborhood Hubs” (as defined by the General Plan) within existing residential neighborhoods to support neighborhood serving small-scale retail and service uses, including small stores selling fresh and locally grown produce and basic daily goods.” Is there a role for the City Council in setting top-level priorities within our $35,000,000 pavement management program, or should we just rely upon the StreetSaver pavement condition management software default settings? How did staff select which of the six StreetSaver generated budget scenarios we are implementing? Gas Leaf Blowers. When should we ban gas-powered leaf blowers in furtherance of “CMAP Strategy 4: Electrification. Transition to electricity as the primary energy source citywide.” Such blowers can no longer be sold legally in California, and San Carlos should not be the last city to ban them or they will all be put to use here. Edmunds estimates that driving a Ford F-150 Raptor truck from Texas to Alaska (3,900 miles) emits the same air pollution as just 30 minutes of yard work with a two-stroke, gas-powered leaf blower. How can we implement rideshare and delivery curb designations as called for by “CMAP Strategy 14: Public Curbs. Assess opportunities in the downtown, mixed-use, office, and commercial areas to designate public curbs for passenger pick-up/drop-off in support of ridesharing.” This may already be an agenda item, but I want to highlight it is also a CMAP strategy.
