Below is an email that I received from Mark Taylor. This email conveys Mr. Taylor’s resignation from his elected office of City Treasurer to become effective in 60 days or upon appointment of his successor, whichever occurs first. Council has 60 days in which to either appoint a San Clemente registered voter to fill the remainder of Mr. Taylor’s term (which is due to expire in November 2024), or to call a special election to fill the vacancy for the remainder of the term. The regulations that I explained in my resignation email on October 1st are the same for the elected office of City Treasurer.

Dear Joanne,
Let this email serve as my formal notice to resign my position as City Treasurer for the City of San Clemente.
Effective Date: 60 days from today, or until Council appoints a new City Treasurer, if sooner.
It has been my pleasure and honor to serve the citizens of San Clemente in my role as City Treasurer since being appointed on March 19, 2013. I will be available to train or answer questions for the new Treasurer and/or City staff anytime in the future.
