CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT AWARD TO JENNETTE COMPANY, INC. FOR THE LA PATA SEWER LIFT STATION REHAB/UTA TION, CIP PROJECT No. 20201 Fiscal Impact: Yes. The available project budget is $106,100. The estimated total construction cost is $136,745; therefore, a supplemental appropriation in the amount of $31,000 is recommended from the Sewer Depreciation Reserve Fund.
Summary: Staff recommends approval of a construction contract with Jennette Company, Inc., in the amount of $90,745 for the La Pata Sewer Lift Station Rehabilitation.
Background: The La Pata Lift Station (Station) is located along the south side of Avenida La Pata adjacent to Richard Steed Memorial Park, as shown on Attachment 1. The La Pata Lift Station was originally designed and built to serve a portion of Rancho San Clemente Business Park at higher anticipated sewage flows.
However, based on tenants within the Business Park, lower sewage flows are experienced, making operation of the Station more challenging and inefficient.
In order to increase the Station's performance and efficiency, the wet well needs to be modified with installation of an interior partition wall to reduce the wet well volume by approximately fifty percent.
A consultant prepared a bid package for the above improvements and staff advertised the project for competitive bidding on the PlanetBids website. Five bids were received on May 23, 2022, ranging from $90,745 to $210,881, as shown on Attachment 2. The lowest responsive bidder was Jennette Company, Inc. of San Diego, California, at $90,745. Based on the low bid, construction costs are estimated as follows:

As required by City Policy and State Law, the Contractor will be required to provide performance and payment bonds simultaneously with execution of the construction contract (Attachment 3). Project plans and specifications are on file in the City Clerk's office.

Action: Staff Recommends That the City Council:
1 . Approve the Plans and Specifications of the La Pata Sewer Lift Station Rehabilitation, CIP Project No. 20201;
2. Approve a supplemental appropriation in the amount of $31,000 from the Sewer Depreciation Reserve Fund to Account No. 054-476-43470-000- 20201; and
3. Approve and authorize the Public Works Director to execute Contract No. ___ , by and between the City of San Clemente and Jennette Company, Inc., in the amount of $90,745, for the La Pata Sewer Lift Station Rehabilitation, CIP Project No. 20201.
