A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN CLEMENTE, CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZING SUBMITTAL OF AN APPLICATION TO THE CALIFORNIA OFFICE OF HISTORIC PRESERVATION FOR A CERTIFIED LOCAL GOVERNMENT GRANT TO UPDATE THE 2006 HISTORIC RESOURCES SURVEY BY CONDUCTING A FIELD SURVEY OF PREVIOUSLY IDENTIFIED HISTORIC PROPERTIES AND UPDATING THEIR ASSOCIATED DEPARTMENT OF PARKS AND RECREATION (DPR) FORMS WHEREAS, the Office of Historic Preservation (OHP) is required by federal law to pass through at least 10% of its annual Federal Historic Preservation Fund (HPF) allocation to Certified Local Governments (CLGs) for Historic Preservation Fund-eligible activities, and WHEREAS, California has elected to distribute this money to CLGs through the competitive CLG grant program Cycle 2023-24 to local governments to support Historic Preservations, and WHEREAS, the Office of Historic Preservation application submittal deadline is April 28, 2023, and WHEREAS, on March 30, 2023, the City submitted the Annual Report as required by the CLG Grant Manual to qualify for the grant, and WHEREAS, the City will use the awarded funds to update the City’s DPR forms and conduct a field survey supporting the preservation of historic resources; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of San Clemente hereby:
Section 1. Directs San Clemente staff to submit a grant application package to the California Office of Historic Preservation to provide financial support, under authority of the Federal Historic Preservation Fund, in the amount of up to $40,000 to fund the project more particularly described in the grant application package.
Section 2. Authorizes the Community Development Director, of the City of San Clemente, to execute, in the name of San Clemente, all necessary applications and related documents and take all necessary steps to process the grant application.
Section 3. The Mayor of the City of San Clemente shall sign this Resolution and the City Clerk shall attest and certify to the passage and adoption of this Resolution and it shall become effective at the time(s) specified above and in accordance with applicable law.
Section 4. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this resolution and enter it into the book of original resolutions.
