What is your occupation? Substitute Teacher Capistrano Unified School District Please explain why you would like to serve on the Beaches, Parks and Recreation Commission. have always had a passion for the outdoors, and open spaces. My enjoyment and free time is spent ~amping, hiking, beach going, and enjoying gatherings at our parks! At this time in my life I have the time, and drive to serve on the Beaches, Parks and Recreation Commission. My goal would be to help bring the 11ission and vision of our city to our multi generation residents to enjoy.
Please explain how your background and experience would contribute to the Beaches, Parks and Recreation Commission.
1 have years of experience working for the City of Garden Grove in their Recreation Dept. as a youth leader, t::amp counselor, front desk clerk, as well as community event volunteer. This experience has given me 1<nowledge of the recreation department as a whole, from the youth leader to the director of recreation. As a t)arent I have spent years as a volunteer for AYSO, San Clemente Little League, and PTA utilizing many of bur beaches, and parks. My children have spent countless hours in San Clemente recreation programs, and Jr. Guards. I am very familiar with our neighboring parks as well as our precious ocean environment.
6. Please explain any expertise that you may have in the area of ocean water quality and/or beach environmental stewardship.
~lthough I don't have expertise in the area of water quality, I do understand the importance of caring for our :>cean, beaches and run off areas. As a steward to our oceans, I have participated in clean ups, as well as educating our future generations about the importance of "leaving it nicer than you found it", and recycling. t's a way of thinking we should all make a priority. My son also currently works in the Maritime industry, so he has been a wealth of local and global knowledge.

The Beaches, Parks and Recreation Commission meets on the second Tuesday in February, April, June, August, October and December at 6:00 p m. Please explain any challenges, if any, you may have in meeting this commitment.
I don't for see any challenges that would interfere with my attendance at the meetings.
Please describe your views on the quality of City beaches and parks, including any steps you feel should be taken for improvement.
M/e are so lucky to have beautiful beaches, parks and open spaces in San Clemente! I am a big cheerleader kor community involvement and education. Park clean up and beautification is always a bonus. In regards o our park improvement I feel we can utilize our service groups, and youth organizations within the city to toordinate clean up/beautification events. I would like to take the steps to schedule these on a more regular oasis. The commission reaching out to them, instead of waiting for them to contact. Another "dream" for ou1 oarks/open space would be to finalize and create a community garden utilizing grants/donations from businesses to make this a reality! I know this was in the works at one point.
