4. Please explain why you would like to serve on the Beaches, Parks and Recreation Commission. believe it is important to be civically engaged in your community. I enjoy being engaged, involved, and to give back. I wish to continue grow in city engagement following completing the city's 2023 Leadership brogram. I believe my profesional work background in environmental assessments/investigation, Stormwater management & water quality issues and people management skills would complement the needs of this commission.
5. Please explain how your background and experience would contribute to the Beaches, Parks and Recreation Commission.
believe my 35+ years of profesional work experience in environmental water quality investigations, storm INater monitoring & reporting, and people management skills would complement the needs of this t:::ommission. I have a problem solving, "can do" attitude.
My background in hydrogeology, engineering, storm water sampling & permitting, and erosion control gives rne a solid foundation in understanding the key issues that the commission will need to address.
6. Please explain any expertise that you may have in the area of ocean water quality and/or beach environmental stewardship.
11..s a CA state registered geologist and certified hydrogeologist, have a wide range of environmental and Nater quality related-issue experience that is directly applicable to ocean water quality & beach environmental stewardship.

Please explain any experience that you have in community, governmental, charitable or educational affairs. ~s an environmental professional, I have dealt with many governmental and regulatory agencies, such as:
1) Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC), 2) US EPA, 3) CA Regional Water Quality Board (RWQCB), 4) LA METRO, 5) Professional Environmental Mangement Association (Acting Board Member, past treasurer)

1) Past President, VP, and treasurer of Fullerton Recreational Riders - Liason to City of Fullerton & managed establish MOU, 2) Volunteer at Family Assistence Ministries (FAM), 3) Volunteer/advocate at Mission San Juan Capistrano providing tours to 4th graders and private VIP tours/events promoting the importance of the Spanish Mission System as start of California's history.
9. The Beaches, Parks and Recreation Commission meets on the second Tuesday in February, April, June, August, October and December at 6:00 pm. Please explain any challenges, if any, you may have in meeting this commitment.

10. Please describe your views on the quality of City beaches and parks, including any steps you feel should be taken for improvement.
rT"he erroding beaches is major problem that needs to be controlled if San Clemente is to remain a k:iestination spot for businesses and visitors. I support programs to study beach erosional currents and sand replenishment.
Our parks require maintenance investments and facilites/programs that reach a broad range of needs for the community.

In addition to having participated in San Clemente's 2023 Leadership Program and other civic prganizations, I am a practical, level headed, civic-minded resident with over 35 years of practical work ~xperience.
