Between my wife who is a Special Education teacher and my kids who are 15 and 18, we have been envolved in many different aspects of San Clemente. My kids have been playing water polo locally for San Clemente H.S. and the San Clemente Water Polo Club. We have been a part of the First Tee which introduces golf to young kids by volenteering and particapating in the program. My daughter has volenteered at FAM, The First Tee, and many other clubs at SCHS. My daughter will be attending UCLA in the fall. My son is 15 and attends SCHS. He spent his first semsiter of high school at Crean Luthern. After transferring to SCHS, he has been on the swim team and plays water polo for the SC club team. Between the many activities that my kids are a part of and my wife and I working full time, I enjoy playing golf with friends at the "Muni".
8. The Golf Course Committee meets the first Thursday in January, April, July and October at 6:00 p.m. Please explain any challenges, if any, you may have in meeting this commitment.
No Challenges
9. Please describe your views on opportunities, if any, to improve the San Clemente Municipal Golf Course.
Extend the driving range fence. Continue to replant fallen or dead trees. Place divot fill bottles in areas that receive a lot of play. Post personal liabilty signs in golf carts, at the entrence of the course, at the register where we pay for our rounds of golf, and at location where private parties can or have been effected by arrant golf shots. Place protective barriers where needed to protect residence in the area and in locations to protect other golfers. Require on-course "Marshals" for Men's club tournaments (especially Saturday tournaments) to ensure pace of play (this effects play outside the tournament). Spread left over mulch in tree wells to retain moisture and make the course more asthetically pleasing. Bring back the First Tee to SCGC. We need to push the youth programs and Rocky's clinics are not for everyone.
10. Please use the space below to explain any other factors about yourself that you would like for the Council members to consider as they review your application.
I believe there should be a long term plan. Areas of focus over the next 20 years. Less reactionary projects which end up more expensive.
I love the course. I love this city. I want my kids and their kids to be able to enjoy this beautiful city for years to come.
