Name: Aaron T. Washington Jr

Please explain why you would like to serve on the Planning Commission.

I would like to put my extensive years of engineering experience to use supporting our City and City Council. My ability to prove that I can work on teams in high stress environments has been proven through my 35 years of service to our country. I am well versed and experienced in electrical power generation, water production, sewage processing, quality assurance, firefighting, interpreting blueprints and schematics, OSHA requirements and hazardous material management transportation and storage (ocean). Although most ofmy ce1tificatioo and qualifications were achieved during my military service, they transfer rather well in the civilian sector. I completed my home inspections training with the American Home Inspectors Training (AHIT) and a member of California Real Estate Inspection Association, which is not expired, only noted to reflect my past experience.

Please explain how your background and experience would contribute to the Planning Commission.

With my wide range of experience, I feel will be used well. I enjoy the fact that the Planning Conm1ission meets more than every two months, and I feel I will have a positive impact. I want to be a contributing member to maintaining San Clemente's heritage and small village by the sea feel. I will complement the wealth of knowledge that already exists on the Planning Commission. I am use to working on diverse teams, and able to review and understand plans. I have communicated with a few members of the P lanning Commission and know what is expected ofme. Completed my Electrical Apprenticeship with the United States Depa1tment of Labor (24Junel 994). Serve multiple tours as Chief Engineer (the analogy of City Manager) on Naval assets, the largest was Amphibious Carrier USS PELELIU (LHA 5) with a crew size of approximately 3,000 when marines are embarked. I have the time to conunit to such an impmtant role for our city and I humbly ask the suppo1t of our Dias to give me the oppo1tunity to serve.

3_ Getting ahead of the slope erosion threatening our historical sites and residential properties.

Please explain any experience that you have had in community, governmental, charitable or educational affairs. -Served as Commissioner Beach, Parks and Recreation & Coastal Advisory (BPRCA) -Currently serving as Commissioner on Human Affairs (Co-Chair) -Board of Directors member PierPride

-Volunteer in Food Distribution for families in need (Sponsored by Saddleback Church) -Volunteer in the coordination of Coastal Cleanup (with Susan Ambrose and Tyler Boden) Please describe your ideal vision for San Clemente's future (as it pertains to growth and development).

I envision not allowing over development, and that which we do allow, will be in the theme of the Spanish Colonial architect. Properties do get old and require refurbishing and we will ensure we execute the approved policies and ordinances set by our council.
