1. Name:

Lisa Edone City Clerk Department

2. How long have you lived in San Clemente? 23 years - ---"----------- ---- - - ------

3. What is your occupation? Medical Sales

4. Please explain why you would like to serve on the Human Affairs Committee.

As immediatte past chair of the Human Affairs Committee, we have several projects that I would like to move forward to bring to fruition. One of the primary programs is "Every 15 Minutes", the DUI simulation program. During this term the high school delayed applying for the grant, so we missed funding. We would like to complete the program. We would also like to work with Homeward Bound so help people return home

5. Please explain how your background and experience would contribute to the Human Affairs Committee.

My background in managing large teams and organizing a strategy and supporting tactics to achieve our group's goals makes me well-suited to form our work plan to benefit the community and work on execution. We held a successful Community Resource Fair this year, with over 30 community-service vendors attending. My subgroup executed this successful project and my goal is to advertise it widely to generate bigger attendance next year.

6. Please explain any expertise t hat you may have in the area of homelessness.

I have educated myself extensively on the challenges of homelessness over the past 5+ years. I also serve on the Homeless Roundtable subcommittee with Councilmember Enmeier and Councilmember Knoblock.

Our goal is to fully understand the multi-pronged approach that could benefit the homeless in San Clemente and propose workable solutions for the future to recommend to city council.

7. What is your educational background?
High School/Colleges Attended Major Field of Study Degree? Los Alamitos High School General Yes
Long Beach State Business Yes

8. Please explain any experience that you have in community, governmental, charitable or educational affairs.

I have chaired the Human Affairs committee for the past two years. I have volunteered for a Battered Women Shelter for 14 years. I established a community charitable event to benefit the Woman's Shelter for 4 years running. Last year we raised $67,000. We also do special events on holidays for the moms and kids.

9. The Human Affairs Committee meets on a regular basis on the second Tuesday of every other even month at 3:00 p.m. Please explain any challenges, if any, you may have in meeting this commitment.

No challenges.

10. Considering the City's limited financial resources, please describe your views on how the City can address human needs in the community.

For our Community Resource fair, minimal funds were needed. We used volunteer groups. With our volunteer committees and commissions such as Human Affairs and Public Safety, the city is able to gain knowledge on issues germaine to the city from subject matter experts to solve the problems and issues facing the city. All of these acitivities can be done with minimal to to expenditures.

11. Please describe your understanding of the principal roles and responsibilities of the Human Affairs Committee.

Surface workable ideas to address pressing issues facing the city, to include teen drug and substance abuse, bullying, and homelessness. We work as a team to generate ideas and make recommendations to city council as well as work on individual projects on our approved workplan, which we craft yearly.

12. Please use the space below to explain any other factors about yourself that you would like for the Councilmembers to consider as they review your application.

I have a deep passion for taking action to address issues facing our city vs. having another meeting and talking about it, with no meaningful impact or action. There are several carryover projects from last year, including a teen mentorship program. With the right members in place, we can fulfill our commitment to the city and bring these projects to completion.
