Prepared By Laura Campagnolo, City Clerk
Subject:

INTERVIEWS AND APPOINTMENTS OF COASTAL ADVISORY COMMITTEE, BEACHES, PARKS AND

RECREATION COMMISSION AND ARTS AND CULTURE COMMITTEE
Fiscal Impact:

None to interview and appoint applicants.

Summary:

The City Clerk’s Office received four applications to fill one vacancy on the Coastal Advisory Committee, eleven applications to fill three vacancies on the Beaches, Parks and Recreation Commission and fourteen applications to fill seven positions on the newly formed Arts and Culture Committee.

Coastal Advisory Committee
Staff recommends interviewing four candidates for the Coastal Advisory Committee and making an appointment to one individual to fill the term left vacant when Thor Johnson determined to give up his seat on the Coastal Advisory Committee so that he could remain on the Beaches, Parks and Recreation Commission. This term will expire June 30, 2024.

Beaches, Parks and Recreation Commission
Staff recommends interviewing eleven candidates to fill three vacancies on the Beaches, Parks and Recreation Commission. These vacancies are a result of the appointment of two Commissioners, Susan Ambrose and John Dow, to the newly formed Coastal Advisory Committee, and the resignation of Commissioner Errol Foremaster because he is relocating out of San Clemente and no longer eligible to serve on the Commission. Two terms will expire June 30, 2024 and one term will expire June 30, 2025.

Arts and Culture Committee
Staff recommends interviewing fourteen candidates to fill seven positions on the newly formed Arts and Culture Committee. Staff further recommends that Council appoint four Committee members with terms to expire June 30, 2025 and three Committee members with terms to expire June 30, 2026.
