A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN CLEMENTE, CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO PURCHASE A HYDRO-EXCAVATOR WET/DRY DIGGING UNIT FROM PLUMBERS DEPOT, INC. IN THE AMOUNT OF $721,688.31 AND APPROVING A SUPPLEMENTAL APPROPRIATION RELATED THERETO WHEREAS, the City utilizes vacuum excavation as a part of repair and maintenance of water infrastructure to excavate water mains and adjacent underground facilities; and WHEREAS, excavating buried utilities can involve significant risk and hydro-excavation minimizes safety hazards and property damage of adjacent buried utility lines; and WHEREAS, utilizing a combination jet/vac truck from the Collections Department detracts from the Collections work plan and lessens the useful life of that equipment; and WHEREAS, Plumbers Depot, Inc.’s proposal with a bid amount of $721,688.31 for a new unit best meets the City’s needs and is the lowest responsive and responsible bidder.
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of San Clemente does hereby resolve as follows:
Section 1. That the above recitals are true and correct and incorporated herein as findings.
Section 2. That the City Manager is authorized and directed to execute such documents and take such actions as are necessary and proper to purchase the Hydro-Excavator Unit from Plumbers Depot, Inc. for an amount not to exceed $721,688.31.
Section 3. That a supplemental appropriation in the amount of $721,688.31 to the Fleet Automotive Account #065-824-45600 from the Water Fund balance is hereby approved.
Section 4. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this resolution and enter it into the book of original resolutions.
