A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN CLEMENTE, CALIFORNIA, AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO PURCHASE A VALVE MAINTENANCE UNIT FROM PLUMBERS DEPOT, INC. IN THE AMOUNT OF $132,050.59 AND APPROVING A SUPPLEMENTAL APPROPRIATION RELATED THERETO WHEREAS, the City maintains over 11,000 system valves as a part of repair and maintenance of water and recycled distribution infrastructure to provide quality water service; and WHEREAS, maintaining these system valves requires operating the valves, mostly located in the streets; and WHEREAS, utilizing a valve maintenance unit aids in achieving the City’s goals of ensuring operation of each valve every two years; and WHEREAS, the City’s prior valve maintenance unit has met the end of its useful life and is non-operational; and WHEREAS, the City conducted a competitive bidding process consistent with state law and City policy for a replacement valve maintenance unit and received two bids; and WHEREAS, Plumbers Depot, Inc.’s proposal with a bid amount of $132,050.59 for a new unit best meets the City’s needs and is the lowest responsive and responsible bidder.
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of San Clemente does hereby find, determine and resolve as follows:
Section 1. That the above recitals are true and correct and incorporated herein as findings.
Section 2. That the purchase of a 2024 LX VMS 750 Valve Maintenance Unit from Plumbers Depot, Inc. for an amount not to exceed $132,050.59 is hereby approved.
Section 3. That the City Manager, or his designee, is hereby authorized and directed to execute such documents and take such actions as are necessary and proper to purchase the Valve Maintenance Unit from Plumbers Depot, Inc.
Section 4. That a supplemental appropriation in the amount of $34,055 to the Water Operating Fund, in Account Number 052-463-45500 from the Water Fund balance is hereby approved.
Section 5. That the City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this resolution and enter it into the book of original resolutions.
