RESOLUTION NO. 24-41
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN CLEMENTE, CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING AND FILING NOTICE OF COMPLETION FOR THE BRIDGE DEMOLITION AND REMOVAL FROM METROLINK YARD, PROJECT NO. 11810 WHEREAS, the Mariposa Pedestrian Beach Trail Bridge between Mariposa and El Portal beach accesses were damaged by a coastal bluff failure that resulted in detachment of two 86 feet bridge spans from their supports on January 24, 2024, and debris from the slope covered a portion of the railroad tracks shutting down train service; and WHEREAS, in order to temporarily stabilize the landslide material and return train service, OCTA and Metrolink removed the City’s two bridge spans for grading. The removed bridge spans were relocated to Metrolink’s construction yard. Due to limited space, Metrolink requested the City’s removal of the bridge sections as soon as possible; and WHEREAS, this project demolished and removed the two bridge spans from Metrolink yard.
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of San Clemente does hereby find, determine and resolve as follows:
SECTION 1. That the above recitations are true and correct and incorporated herein.
SECTION 2. That the Bridge Demolition and Removal from Metrolink Yard, Project No. 11810, is hereby accepted from Diamond Construction & Design.
SECTION 3. That the Public Works Director/City Engineer is hereby authorized to execute and record a Notice of Completion for the completed Bridge Demolition and Removal from Metrolink Yard.
SECTION 4. That the City Clerk is hereby authorized to release the payment bond 35 days from the recordation of the Notice of Completion upon verification with the Engineering Division that no liens have been levied against the Contractor, Diamond Construction & Design.
SECTION 5. That the City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this resolution and enter it into the book of original resolutions.
