RESOLUTION NO. 24-89
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN CLEMENTE, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING RICHARD T. STEED MEMORIAL PARK/BARON VON WILLARD DOG PARK MASTER PLAN RESOLUTION NO. 23-25, TO INCORPORATE EIGHT ADDITIONAL PICKLEBALL COURTS FOR A TOTAL OF 24 PICKLEBALL COURTS WHEREAS, in March 2023, the City of San Clemente adopted Resolution No. 23-25, approving an update to the Richard T. Steed Memorial Park/Baron Von Willard Dog Park Master Plan (“Steed Park Master Plan”); and WHEREAS, the City Council recognizes the need to enhance recreational facilities to meet community demands and promote a healthy, active lifestyle for residents; and WHEREAS, the proposed amendments to the Steed Park Master Plan include the addition of eight pickleball courts, bringing the total number to 24 courts, the expansion of the parking lot, and the reduction in size of the multipurpose field; and WHEREAS, an addendum to the Initial Study and Mitigated Negative Declaration has been prepared in accordance with the California Environmental Quality Act (“CEQA”), and it has been determined that the proposed amendments are minor and technical, and that they will not result in substantial changes to the previously approved project or its conditions, that no new information of substantial importance is involved, and that there are no significant environmental impacts beyond those previously identified; and WHEREAS, the City Council has reviewed and considered the addendum to the IS/MND, and adopted Resolution No. 24-88.
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of San Clemente does hereby resolve as follows:
Section 1. The Master Plan is hereby amended to incorporate eight additional pickleball courts, bringing the total to 24 courts. The Master Plan amendment also includes the expansion of the parking and the reduction in the size of the multipurpose field to accommodate the increase in pickleball courts. The pickleball court facility will incorporate a championship-style pickleball court, an operations/restroom building, and one additional restroom. Attached hereto as Exhibit “A” and fully incorporated herein is a rendering of the Steed Park pickleball court design as approved herein.
Section 2. This resolution amends and supersedes the relevant portions of Resolution No. 23-25 as they pertain to the Steed Park Master Plan.
Section 3. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this resolution and enter it into the book of original resolutions.
