Dear Council Members and Citizens of San Clemente,
On behalf of the San Clemente Historical Society, I am writing to express our enthusiastic support for the new bronze statue “The Rescue” being proposed for Parque Del Mar. We are delighted to see this initiative spearheaded by the San Clemente Lifeguard & Junior Guard Foundation, as it aligns with our shared mission of preserving and honoring the rich heritage of our community.
Our lifeguards have long been an integral part of San Clemente's history, safeguarding our beaches and ensuring the safety of countless residents and visitors. This statue will not only serve as a tribute to their dedication and bravery but also stand as a symbol of our town's enduring connection to the ocean and beach culture.
The San Clemente Historical Society believes that this statue will enhance the cultural and historical significance of our park, providing a focal point for both education and reflection. It is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the contributions of our lifeguards and to inspire future generations with their stories of heroism and service.
We commend the San Clemente Lifeguard & Junior Guard Foundation for their vision and commitment to this project. Please know that the San Clemente Historical Society is fully supportive of all efforts to ensure the successful realization of this meaningful tribute. We look forward to seeing the statue become a cherished landmark in our community.
Respectfully,
Katie Potts, President

To Whom it May Concern
The Friends of San Clemente heartily endorse the San Clemente Lifeguards and Junior Lifeguards Foundation Association in their effort to install a statue of lifeguards on the bluff overlooking the Pier.
As a group who support the parks and recreation in our city, we believe this will be an appropriate addition to the Pier Bowl area and is in keeping with the long and vaunted tradition of lifeguarding our city has provided. It will bring pride and enjoyment for the community and create a fine landmark representing one of our finest features – our beautiful beaches and the men and women who keep them safe for both locals and visitors alike.
Additionally, this will be a reminder of the service these lifeguards bring and a sign of respect that will emanate out to everyone who uses these amenities.
We hope this project will become a reality and the FOSC will support these efforts however we can.
It is both deserving and inspirational.
Respectfully,
The Friends of San Clemente Foundation

Dear San Clemente City Council
On behalf of the San Clemente Boardriders Club we would like to o@er our support for the San Clemente Lifeguard & Junior Guard Foundation’s proposal to install “The Rescue” sculpture at the Parque Del Mar.
Our Club members are known worldwide as ambassadors of surfing for the City of San Clemente. Most of our members began their ocean training in the Junior Guards program and many have gone on and are currently serving as State and City Lifeguards for San Clemente. We feel that “The Rescue” sculpture proudly represents the long tradition of lifeguarding in our community while also acting as an educational tool for the many visitors and beachgoers.
It is our hope that the City Council will approve the Foundation’s proposal that has the endorsement of all the members of the San Clemente Boardriders Club.
Sincerely
San Clemente Boardriders Club
