RESOLUTION NO. 25-27
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF San clemente, CALIFORNIA, aUTHORIZING THE SUBMITTAL OF A GRANT APPLICATION TO THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA, DIVISION OF BOATING AND WATERWAYS FOR GRANT FUNDING UNDER THE BOAT LAUNCHING FACILITIES GRANT PROGRAM to enable a comprehensive rehabilitation project of THE san clemente MUNICIPAL PIER ..body
WHEREAS, the City’s Municipal Pier is approaching the 100-year-old mark in 2028 and requires repairs and maintenance to keep the facility looking and performing optimally as a key coastal public amenity in the City; and WHEREAS, the City is seeking grant funding for improvements to the San Clemente Municipal Pier in the amount of $6,350,000 in funding to initiate the municipal pier rehabilitation project; and WHEREAS, this grant requires a local cost share match in the amount of 50% or $2,775,000, which could be provided as cash, other grant funding, in-kind contributions or a combination thereof; and WHEREAS, the State Parks, Division of Boating and Waterways (DBW) offers grants to local jurisdictions for projects such as that being implemented by the City for the pier; and WHEREAS, DBW grant applications must be accompanied by a resolution from the public agency authorizing the submittal of a grant application no later than April 15, 2025; and WHEREAS, if the City is successful, funding from DBW for this effort would become available in Fall 2026 at the earliest and the item would be brought back to the City Council for grant acceptance at that time.
NOW THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of San Clemente, California, does hereby find, determine, and resolve as follows:
SECTION 1. That the above recitations are true and correct and fully incorporated herein.
SECTION 2. That the City Council desires to implement a comprehensive rehabilitation program of the City’s Municipal Pier.
SECTION 3. That the City Manager, or his designee, is authorized and directed to submit a grant application to the DBW for such project.
SECTION 4. That City staff is authorized and directed to take such actions as are necessary and proper to fulfill the purpose and intent of this Resolution.
SECTION 5. That the City Clerk shall certify the passage and adoption of this Resolution and enter it into the book of original resolutions.
