RESOLUTION NO. 25-40
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN CLEMENTE, CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING A DONATION OF $25,000 FROM THE PIERPRIDE FOUNDATION FOR THE PURCHASE OF A REPLACEMENT ARTIFICIAL HOLIDAY TREE FOR THE END OF THE PIER WHEREAS, the City of San Clemente is committed to promoting community spirit and enhancing the festive atmosphere during the holiday season through activities such as the annual “Sunsets with Santa” event held at the pier; and WHEREAS, the holiday tree located at the end of the pier, which has become a significant part of the city’s holiday celebrations, has reached the end of its useful life due to environmental factors such as exposure to saltwater, wind, and weather conditions; and WHEREAS, the PierPride Foundation recognizes the importance of the holiday tree to the community, and has graciously offered a donation of $25,000 to the City of San Clemente to fund the purchase and installation of a new artificial holiday tree for the end of the pier; and WHEREAS, the City of San Clemente intends to use the $25,000 donation from the PierPride Foundation to purchase a new artificial holiday tree that will be used in future holiday seasons and continue the tradition of celebrating the holiday season with the community.
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of San Clemente does hereby resolve as follows:
Section 1. The City Council hereby accepts the donation of $25,000 from the PierPride Foundation for the purchase and installation of a new artificial holiday tree for the end of the pier.
Section 2. The City Council authorizes the allocation of the $25,000 donation for the sole purpose of purchasing the replacement holiday tree at the end of the pier, as part of the City’s holiday celebrations.
Section 3. The Beaches, Parks & Recreation Director, or his or her designee, is hereby authorized and directed to take all necessary steps to implement the purchase and installation of the replacement holiday tree, in accordance with City policies and procedures.
Section 4. PierPride Foundation is authorized to affix its official logo on or near the holiday tree, subject to review and approval by the Beaches, Parks & Recreation Director to ensure consistency with the overall aesthetic standards. The organization is further authorized to host an annual tree lighting event on the Pier, in coordination with the City and in compliance with all applicable permits, safety protocols, and public event regulations, as specified in San Clemente Municipal Code Chapter 12.34. These rights shall remain in effect for the life of the Holiday Tree, in recognition of the PierPride Foundation’s contribution.
Section 5. The City Council expresses its sincere gratitude to the PierPride Foundation for its generous contribution to the City of San Clemente and the holiday celebrations enjoyed by the community.
Section 6. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this resolution and enter it into the book of original resolutions.
