RESOLUTION NO. 25-117
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN CLEMENTE, CALIFORNIA, CONFIRMING THE CITY’S COMMITMENT TO PROVIDE A 25% LOCAL MATCH FOR THE HAZARD MITIGATION GRANT PROGRAM APPLICATION WHEREAS, the City is preparing a full application to the California Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) for $8.55 million in Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (HMGP) funding to implement a comprehensive Wildfire and Vegetation Management Program across 5,300 acres; and WHEREAS, the HMGP requires a 25% non-federal match, estimated at $2,137,500, which the City anticipates meeting through in-kind labor, services, HOA/private contributions, volunteer work, and potentially other grants, with remaining needs from the General Fund; and WHEREAS, the program includes goat grazing, mechanical vegetation removal, native restoration, and public education to reduce wildfire risk and protect life, property, and infrastructure.
NOW THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of San Clemente does hereby find, determine, and resolve as follows:
SECTION 1. The above recitals are true and correct and incorporated herein fully by reference as findings.
SECTION 2. The City Council confirms its commitment to provide the required 25% non-federal match, up to $2,137,500, for the HMGP application.
SECTION 3. The City Council authorizes staff to include this commitment in the HMGP application and to submit the application.
SECTION 4. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this resolution and enter it into the book of original resolutions.
