City of San Clemente
Planning Division
Community Development
To Roger Kinoshita,
Senior Vice President, Real Estate Acquisitions
The City of San Clemente values our community members and seeks to provide a range of housing options to sustain social and economic needs. We have been following your work developing housing and would like to extend an invitation to meet with City staff to discuss our development review process, including new incentives and streamlined review, and keep communication open. The City of San Clemente is the southernmost city in Orange County with a population of 66,245 and covers about 18 square miles of hills, canyons, and coastline. The city is referred to as the “Spanish Village by the Sea,” due to its signature Spanish architecture and beach lifestyle.
In our 6
th Cycle Housing Element, we found that the community is most in need of housing for very lowincome and moderate-income households. These can be developed as stand-alone (100% affordable) projects or as part of project providing up to 80% market rate housing. We invite you to browse the Planning website and links below to familiarize yourself with our city’s development details. Please review and let us know if you would like to schedule a meeting. - Objective design standards
- Residential Density Interpretive Table
- Interactive housing overlay map
We look forward to working with you. You may reach out with any questions at 949-361-8258 or via email to [email protected].
Sincerely,
Araceli Mejia
