4. Please explain why you would like to serve on the Community Safety and Welfare Committee.
I have been committed to Public Safety and Fire Service for the past 45 years as Firefighter, Officer, Safety Officer, Chief, and Fire Instructor. I have provided training to Fire Instructors classes at Santa Anta Community College.
I would like the opportunity to give back to my community some of my knowledge, experience, and expertise I have gained throughout my lifetime from true professionals in the field of Public Safety and Fire Protection Service.
5. Please explain your background and experience in the public safety field.
I started my pursuit for public safety as a volunteer Fireman, which allowed me to advance to the positions of Officer and Chief within the City of San Clemente Fire Department.
This enabled me to further advance my passion and career at the San Onofre Fire Department Fire Chief, Battalion Chief, and Training Officer. I was responsible for initial organization and development of the San Onofre Fire Department where I obtained State of California, Fire Marshal, Certified Chief Officer and Master Instructor certifications.

7. Please explain any experience that you have in community, governmental, charitable or educational affairs.
Former Treasurer and Director of a Large Federal Credit Union, Served in various service ministries’ and leadership roles Within my local church organization.
I am currently working with the California Fire Museum and Learning Center to restore the first City of San Clemente Fire truck, 1924 American La France engine, GMC chassis with a six‐cylinder Buick motor, Donated by the former Fire Chief Ronny Coleman and his Wife Marie, hoping to have fire truck at the San Clemente annual car show.
8. Please describe your understanding of the principal roles and responsibilities of the Community Safety and Welfare Committee.
My understanding are well defined and expressed in written “The Public Safety Committee's” mission statement, its functions and duties including reviewing public‐safety (Fire, Sheriff, Marine Safety, Ambulance) performance measures and making sound recommendations to the City Council for areas of improvement, and developing an annual work plan with Specific goals and objectives for the coming year. The work plan, with recommendations, shall be submitted to the City Council on a yearly basis. In addition I understand that the committee may also performs such other duties as may be prescribed by the City Council.
9. The Community Safety and Welfare Committee meets bimonthly on the fourth Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. Please explain any Challenges, if any, you may have in meeting this commitment.
I have no challenges which would diminish my commitment to this committee. The web site indicates that the committee meets monthly
