Julie Heinze
2. How long have you lived in San Clemente?
34 years
3. What is your occupation?
Graphic Designer/Art Director
4. Please explain why you would like to serve on the Arts and Culture Committee.
I would like to serve to help strengthen our town's sense of place and creative spirit. The arts can bring people together in unexpected ways. I believe cultural opportunities and/or art-centered experiences can be designed to teach or celebrate San Clemente's history, to be thoughtful or unexpectedly playful, to connect us by celebrating the unique vibe and history of San Clemente. By serving on the Arts & Culture Committee I hope to give ideas and energy to these types of meaningful projects.
5. Please explain how your background and experience would contribute to the Arts and Culture Committee.
My experience spans studio art to corporate advertising and a few design-related tangents. I have been a graphic designer for almost 40 years, starting my career at Apple in corporate advertising. I design logos, magazine advertising, corporate collateral, event spaces, social media & merchandise. I have designed graphics for and managed large events for National Charity League and, locally, the San Clemente Car Show and Glitz. My education includes one year of intensive Art History in Paris and a Communications Art degree. I taught Graphic Design at FIDM for 11 years and had my horizons expanded by the brilliance of my young design students. I'm open-minded about art—knowing that it comes in all formats and styles—but it's objective is always the same: to communicate and to connect.

None.
9. Please describe your understanding of the principal roles and responsibilities of the Arts and Culture Committee.
