RESOLUTION NO. 26-134
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN CLEMENTE, CALIFORNIA, APPROVING RESPONSE TO FINDINGS AND RECOMMENDATIONS IN THE REPORT OF THE ORANGE COUNTY GRAND JURY – “PFAS AND PUBLIC AWARENESS: A CLOSER LOOK AT ORANGE COUNTY DRINKING WATER” WHEREAS, on June 9, 2026, the 2025-2026 Orange County Grand Jury report, “PFAS and Public Awareness: A closer look at Orange County Drinking Water” was published; and WHEREAS, the report focused on impacts of PFAS on drinking water in Orange County and the need for additional public outreach; and WHEREAS, California Penal Code Section 933 requires the City to provide a response to each of the findings and recommendations in the report; and WHEREAS, California Penal Code Section 933.05 specifies the manner in which the responses and comments on the findings and recommendations are to be made; and WHEREAS, the City values the opportunity to respond to the report, share our perspective, and provide firsthand knowledge to each of the issues requested by the Grand Jury; and WHEREAS, the responses must be submitted to the Presiding Judge of the Superior Court by September 7, 2026; and WHEREAS, the City Council has reviewed the report.
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of San Clemente does hereby find, determine and resolve as follows:
SECTION 1. That the above recitations are true and correct and incorporated fully herein.
SECTION 2. That the Mayor is authorized and directed to respond to the findings and recommendations noted in the report by submitting a letter to the Presiding Judge of the Superior Court by September 7, 2026 in substantially the same form as attached to this Resolution as Exhibit A, which is incorporated fully herein by this reference, and which response is hereby approved.
SECTION 3. That the City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this resolution and enter it into the book of original resolutions.
