B. DISCUSSION REGARDING A PAST PROPOSAL FROM THE LOS ANGELES

COUNTY FIRE DEPARTMENT TO PROVIDE FIRE SERVICES TO THE CITY OF

SAN GABRIEL
In 2018, in order to consider alternatives to maintaining the City’s own fire department, a proposal was requested from the Los Angeles County Fire Department for the cost to provide fire services to the City. The costs of the proposal was updated in 2019 but discussion on whether to consider a move to consolidating with the County of Los Angeles was put on hold due to the City’s financial condition at that time, and then the COVID-19 pandemic. An updated cost proposal was recently requested and received, the results of which indicate that changing the City’s services to Los Angeles County does not make sense at this time. Staff will present details of the proposal and the cost analysis, with a recommendation to end discussions with the County at this time. (PRESENTATION)
