SPECIAL MEETING OF THE SAN GABRIEL CITY COUNCIL
CALL TO ORDER
Mayor Ding called the special meeting of the San Gabriel City Council to order at 5:35 p.m. on Wednesday, January 11, 2023, in the Council Chamber at City Hall, 425 South Mission Drive, San Gabriel, California, 91776.

Assistant City Clerk Bonus provided information for the public on how to view the meeting and how to request meeting agendas.
1. PUBLIC COMMENT
Andrew, resident, expressed concern about commissioner safety in relation to the vicinity map for candidate addresses in the staff report; and advocated for a youth advisory position on the Human Equity, Access and Relations (HEAR) Commission.
City Manager Lazzaretto explained that the vicinity maps help to ensure a crosssection of the community on commissions.
2. APPOINTMENT TO THE SAN GABRIEL VALLEY MOSQUITO ABATEMENT AND
VECTOR CONTROL DISTRICT BOARD OF TRUSTEES
Assistant City Clerk Bonus made the staff presentation.
There was no public comment.
Discussion included details of the meeting schedule.
A motion was made by Vice Mayor Harrington, seconded by Council Member Wu, to appoint Council Member Menchaca as the City's representative to the San Gabriel Valley Mosquito and Vector Control District Board of Trustees for a two-year term ending December 31, 2025.

3. INTERVIEWS AND APPOINTMENTS TO THE HUMAN EQUITY, ACCESS AND
RELATIONS (HEAR) COMMISSION, COMMUNITY SERVICES COMMISSION AND
PLANNING COMMISSION
Assistant City Clerk Bonus made the staff presentation.
Interviews of candidates were conducted for the HEAR, Commun ity Services, and Planning Commissions.

As the number of applicants was equal to the number of positions open, following statements by the candidates, a motion was made by Council Member Wu, seconded by Council Member Chan, to appoint Cathie Chavez-Morris, Eric Chen, and Chasity Jennings-Nunez to full terms on the HEAR Commission from June 1, 2023, through May 31 , 2025.
Motion carried by a vote of 5-0 as follows:
