SPECIAL MEETING OF THE SAN GABRIEL CITY COUNCIL
CALL TO ORDER
Mayor Chan called the special meeting of the San Gabriel City Council to order at 5:01 P.M. on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, in the Council Chamber at City Hall, 425 South Mission Drive, San Gabriel, California, 91776.

2. INTERVIEWS AND APPOINTMENTS TO THE CIVIL SERVICE. COMMUNITY SERVICES. DESIGN REVIEW. HISTORIC PRESERVATION AND CULTURAL RESOURCE. AND PLANNING COMMISSIONS
Assistant City Clerk Yang reported staff's recommendation that the City Council adjust the expiration date for the unscheduled vacancy on the Community Services Commission position from May 31, 2027, to May 31, 2028, to total three appointments under consideration for full two-year terms.
Human Resources/Risk Management Director Macias presented his request that term of office for any new commissioner appointed to the Civil Service Commission commence on June 1 for new matters, but not for the completion of the matter currently under consideration by the Commission.

Incumbent Deborah Saito was not able to attend the interview but asked to be considered for reappointment.

A motion was made by Mayor Chan, seconded by Council Member Herrera Avila, to appoint Deborah Saito for a term from June 1, 2026, through May 31, 2028; and Mark Ramos for a term to begin on June 1, 2026, with the next new matter before the Commission through May 31, 2028.
