Of The City of San Jacinto
Alonso Ledezma, Councilmember Crystal Ruiz, Councilmember Two Hundred Thirty-Seventh Anniversary of the Drafting of the Constitution of the United States of America
WHEREAS, on this day, September 17, we mark the Two Hundred Thirty-Seventh Anniversary of the Drafting of the Constitution of the United States of America, a momentous occasion in our nation's history; and
WHEREAS, on September 17, 1787, our Founding Fathers convened at the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia and crafted a document that would become the cornerstone of our democratic republic with three simple words, “We, the People.” This timeless phrase has carried the dream that our nation was founded on Liberty and Justice for All; and WHEREAS, the Constitution of the United States, with its enduring principles of liberty, justice, and equality, has served as a beacon of hope and a model for democracies around the world; and
WHEREAS, this historic document has been amended and interpreted through the years to reflect the evolving values and aspirations of our society; and WHEREAS, the anniversary of the drafting of the Constitution offers an opportunity to reflect on the foundational values of our nation, honor the legacy of our Founding Fathers, and renew our commitment to uphold and defend the principles of the Constitution; and
WHEREAS, the City of San Jacinto calls upon its residents to reaffirm their dedication to the values and principles of democracy and freedom outlined in our great Constitution.
NOW THEREFORE, the San Jacinto City Council proclaims September 17, 2024, as the Two Hundred and Thirty-Seventh Anniversary of the Drafting of the Constitution of the United States of America on this 2nd day of September 2024.
