TO: City Council
REQUESTED BY: Preston Sullens, Superintendent
APPROVED BY: Robert A. Johnson, City Manager
SUBJECT: Surplus Declaration – Authorization to Auction Vehicles RECOMMENDATION:

Staff recommends that the City Council declare as surplus certain vehicles shown below and direct the City Manager or designated representative to sell the vehicles at auction.

DISCUSSION:

The City maintains a fleet of vehicles necessary to support City operations. While appropriate attention is paid to vehicle maintenance in order to ensure the vehicle life is extended, it is necessary to occasionally surplus vehicles from the fleet as they reach the end of their useful lives or as the City’s operational needs change.

The vehicles below are to be designated as surplus because they have reached the end of their useful life due to years in service, high mileage, high repair and maintenance costs, or have been replaced by newer vehicles.
*The law enforcement vehicles have had the emergency response equipment removed.

Any items of an estimated value of $10,000 or more require a City Council approved declaration.
