SUBJECT: ACTIONS RELATED TO THE PURCHASE ORDER FOR TOWABLE DIESEL DRY
PRIME PUMP RENTAL SERVICES
RECOMMENDATION:
Adopt a resolution authorizing the City Manager to:
1. Execute a purchase order with Pac Machine Company (Sacramento, CA) for Towable Diesel Dry Prime Pump Rentals for a twelve-month period, starting on or about February 16, 2022 and ending on February15, 2023, for an amount not to exceed $134,000.
2. Exercise up to four additional one-year options to extend the initial term of the purchase order with the last option year ending on or about February 15, 2027, subject to the appropriation of funds.
Desired Outcome: To ensure the ability to rent towable diesel dry prime pump rental equipment for various departments to mitigate potential flooding and minimize operational impacts.
BASIS FOR RECOMMENDATION:
The Department of Public Works (PW) Fleet Management Division requires the rental of towable dry prime diesel pumps. Towable dry prime diesel pump rentals are required to ensure the Department of Transportation has the proper equipment to mitigate potential flooding on City streets and property during the rainy season and minimize operational and financial impacts.
A competitive Request for Bid (RFB) was facilitated by the Finance Department to procure these services.
One responsive bid was submitted with no protests received. The bidder did not apply for the local/small business preference. Staff recommends award to Pac Machine Company as the sole responsive, responsible bidder pursuant to the bidding procedures of the San José Municipal Code, Section 4.12.310B(2).
Climate Smart San José: The recommendation in this memo has no effect on Climate Smart San José energy, water, or mobility goals.
Commission Recommendation/Input: There is no commission recommendation or input associated with this action.
Office of Equality Assurance: City of San José Prevailing Wage is applicable under this purchase order.
