RECOMMENDATION
Approve the drop of the following item from the March 28, 2022 Community and Economic Development Committee meeting:
• Community Opportunity to Purchase Program Draft Guidelines Report. (Housing) Purpose: Provide a draft guidelines report for the Community Opportunity to Purchase Program that would ensure notification of residential building sales to qualified nonprofits and give them a right of first offer to purchase.
BACKGROUND
Staff requests to drop the Community Opportunity to Purchase Program Draft Guidelines Report from the March 28, 2022 Community and Economic Development Committee meeting. The Community Opportunity to Purchase Program official hearings have been deferred due to the large amount of staff capacity required to develop the forthcoming sixth cycle Housing Element.
Staff from Housing, Planning, and the Office of Economic Development all have been deployed to complete the Housing Element work.
Staff recommends finalizing Community Opportunity to Purchase Program recommendations and conducting official hearings in fall 2022, after the first-round draft Housing Element is submitted to the State in late summer.
