Equity
Equity is one of SCCOE’s four core principles and is integral to all our programs and services. Our early learning programs promote equity in many ways including:
• Provide the highest quality programs to the lowest income families through Head Start • Reserve over-income slots in our programs for children with disabilities • Increase access for low-income families and supporting family childcare home providers by facilitating enrollment through the R&R portal • Provide whole child and whole family supports, like early childhood mental health services and family nutritional education, in our programs • Provide language accessibility and cultural competency by employing and empowering a diverse and multilingual workforce
• Create a countywide workforce pipeline, in partnership with First 5 SCC and others, that elevates the existing workforce, who are primarily women of color 6 Equity • Diversity • Inclusion • Partnership
