Subject: Agenda Item 3.1, Report of the City Manager - San Jose certified as Welcoming City You don't often get email from . Learn why this is important Dear Honorable Mayor and City Council,
As a non-profit organization serving many members of the immigrant community of San Jose, Amigos de Guadalupe Center for Justice and Empowerment is grateful for the work of the City's Office of Racial Equity and Immigrant Affairs team to make San Jose a more welcoming and inclusive City.
Though there is certainly more work to do, we applaud the progress that has been made, such that San Jose is now recognized as a Certified Welcoming City and is the 2nd largest city in the US to receive this distinction.
Our immigrant community members are the essential workers and backbone of our City, and we support all efforts by the City to more effectively serve, welcome, engage with, and honor the contributions of immigrants.
Thank you Honorable Mayor and City Council for your support of the important work of the Office of Racial Equity and the Welcoming San Jose plan.
In community,
Stephanie Jayne
