Hello Megan,
Thank you for providing guidance on the best method to submit a public comment concern.

From March 2020 until April 2021 the Berger County Service Center, chose to fly the American and Californian flags at half staff, this was unprecedented and had never happened in the history of our Country.  I contacted the Board of Supervisors and specifically spoke to Cindy Chavez to request reinstating Old Glory to its proper position for Veterans Day 2020 with no avail.  Our Country’s first female supreme court justice died during that time period (Ruth Bader Ginsburg) and did not get the proper due process for traditional recognition.

This order, from the board of supervisors was so untraditional that the Sheriffs and Parks departments refused to honor the order until the Biden administration was sworn into office.  Not many people had the opportunity to observe this but this combat veteran (me) who is continuing to serve at the county, doing fire safety, had to keep his wheels moving to make sure fire brakes were in place on privately owned properties.  Now, Cindy is the best candidate for mayor of the city, I request conversation, the current mayor and current council members should discus the topic.  I would like to be informed of when this can be placed on the agenda.

Thank you for helping me get my word out.

Brian Rosa

Dear sj city govt,
Thank you, city clerk, Toni Taber, for trying to allow public comment, at the beginning, of today's, budget study session.

I think, City Mgr Jennifer Maguire is incorrect, in stating, there can be public comment, only after the end, of all the budget items, today.

Today, will be an 8 hour session, with at least, 6 departmental items. Each item, will be allotted, at least 1/2hr time, to be discussed.

It seems more reasonable, there should be time, for public comment, after each item today.

It would be hard to believe, you would only allow, 2 mins, of public comment, at the very end, of 6+, very detailed, city budget items, that will take place, over an 8 hr. public meeting session, today.

I hope you can allow public comment, after each budget presentation today. And to find time, to allow public comment, from the Community & Economic Development budget item & report, from yesterday.

City Clerk Toni Taber, tried to allow myself, public comment, at the beginning of the session, today. Just as the mayor had promised, for this item.

City Mgr. Maguire, seemed to state, that public comment, will only happen, at the end of the day, today. And then she disallowed, public comment, for the Community & Economic Development budget item, of yesterday.

I think, C. Mgr. Maguire, is mistaken, and has misjudged, in how to address, the importance of public input & participation, on this day. It is a shared, community process, that is an important purpose, of this week.

In the very least, I hope this email, should make clear, what can be good public procedures, for the whole community, today.

I hope you can work to allow, public comment, after each budget presentation, today. And that you can also work, to allow public comment, for the Community Economic Development budget item, of yesterday, as well.
sincerely,
blair beekman

Dear City Clerk,
Thank you for writing, it is with some relief, in what you have described, below. And in what to expect, for public comment, for today's budget items. It has somewhat more reasonable, public meeting procedures, for public comment time.

To note, I much prefer, the older system, to allow public comment, after each budget item.

Thanks again for writing, and in what to expect for today. sincerely,
blair beekman
