Dear all,
Me and my family are really concerned about se ng up homeless shelters in Residen al Area, especially close to schools, parks. The housing problem are not caused by the residents but the tech industry. They should take the responsibility for housing those lost their homes. But you are throwing the burden back to tax-payers who already paid their hard-earned salary to help those in need. Loca ng the shelters next to schools and parks is catastrophic. The bo om line is no drug users and vagrants close to the kids!

You don't often get email from Learn why this is important
Dear San Jose City Council Members,
I am writing to you about the Tiny Homes Interim Housing site that was approved to go ahead on Noble Ave.
While I do agree that housing the homeless is a top priority, this site is wholly inappropriate for this purpose.
It is across the street from the Berryessa Library, Noble Park and Noble Elementary School. It is also near to Piedmont Middle School and Toyon Elementary School as well as the Penitencia Creek Trail. There are also no grocery stores or medical services nearby, and public transit is very limited. The homeless deserve a better site with more supportive services.
Thank you for your consideration.

You don't often get email from . Learn why this is important
Dear San Jose City Council Members,
Please hear the public’s voice and eliminate the Noble Ave site from considera on from being an emergency interim housing community (Tiny Homes) site. This site is very inappropriate as it is across the street from the Berryessa Library, Noble Park and Noble Elementary School, not to men on numerous single family homes. It is near to Piedmont Middle School and Toyon Elementary School as well as the Penitencia Creek Trail, which is the heart of children’s center life.
Many working parents also use Berryessa library as a a er school babysi ng alterna ve so the safety for those children who walk to library should be the number one priority. The facts that there are no grocery stores, medical services nearby the Noble site makes no sense to consider as an ideal site for homeless. The public transit is also very limited.
There are be er loca on for a ny home site with more suppor ve services nearby.
No public outreach to allow ci zens a chance to become informed of this project. It seems that the City Council is trying to circumvent the right of taxpayers to have a say in what is happening in their neighborhoods. My family lives in this neighborhood since 1974. We raised our children, pay taxes and work hard in this neighborhood. We see how long it takes to develop Berryessa/ Noble neighborhood this far.
This site has been rejected for the same reasons we start to write these public comments. Why does city insist on building and approve it? My friends who live on the west side of San Jose never needs to worry about Tiny home project shows up next to their neighborhood park or library. Noble has been picked because of what reason? Out of convenience? Poli cal? Or simply we deserve it? I am sure San Jose city councils are wise and will come up with a be er plan to elevate the city as a whole, not dumping the problems from le to right, crea ng more long term problems in the future.

Flora Lin

Where is the 48 hour notice for this meeting? LOCAL HOMELESSNESS ACTION PLAN Ruth Callahan < >

City Clerk <[email protected]>
We need to know how this was added at the very last minute without public notice of 48 hours. We respectfully request that this meeting be scheduled at a reasonable hour - not at 10pm after the council meeting- and that all the neighborhood associations be informed. Each district has a list of neighborhood associations and a contact name and email address for all neighborhood associations. Thank you for your compliance and transparency with the tax payer and adherence to the element of fairness to those single family neighborhoods that will be targeted by this last minute approval of future funding plans.
We believe this to be a fair and equitable request to ensure that all stakeholders now and in the future have the opportunity to make their thoughtful replies to the spending applications and dispersal of all Federal / State / County / City funding streams.
Thank you for your thoughtful consideration and ethical application of the rules and regulations governing public funds.
Respectfully submitted,
Ruth A Callahan

Dear City Council Members,
It was disconcer ng to learn of San Jose City Council’s recent approval of the Noble Ave. site for transi onal homes for the homeless.
The Noble site is located steps away from a neighborhood park heavily u lized by a er-school children from nearby Noble Elementary and Piedmont Middle School. To consider placing this loca on so near these vulnerable popula ons is incomprehensible.
From quoted comments by city staff, it seems there is no desire for review of this choice. “The city staff said while they support engaging in community outreach they cau oned against giving neighbors the opportunity to veto the project.”
Shame on all who agreed with this low-level tac c that is not worthy of the great city of San Jose. Transi onal housing for the homeless is vitally important and needs public support to succeed. Running roughshod over concerned residents who do not want to see the character and safety of their neighborhood diminished, is not the way to go about addressing it.
I join with my neighbors in sugges ng that the council not move forward without further reviewing other more appropriate loca ons such as the site near the Highway 680 off-ramp at South Jackson.
Sincerely,
