RULES COMMITTEE AGENDA: 08/03/2022
ITEM: B.12
TO: CITY COUNCIL FROM: Councilmember Matt Mahan
SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF DISTRICT
10 SAP GRANT FOR

ALMADEN VALLEY
WOMEN’S CLUB
DATE: July 27, 2022
APPROVED:

RECOMMENDATION
Approve a request to agendize for City Council deliberation on August 9, 2022, a $2,500 SAP grant from Council District 10 to support the efforts of the Almaden Valley Women’s Club to provide recreational and cultural opportunities to the community.

BACKGROUND
Pursuant to City Council Expenditure and Reimbursement Policy, Policy Number 0-38, Section K “Grants”, Item 6, “Any contribution to an organization proposed by a Council member who is a member of that organization must be approved in advance by the City Council.” Approval is requested to expend $2,500 from the budgeted District 10 SAP Grant allocation to support the Almaden Valley Women’s Club (AVWC). For the past 41 years, AVWC has been organizing the Almaden Art & Wine Festival, and the District 10 office has a long history of supporting their efforts. This year, instead of the Art & Wine festival, they are hosting a Virtual 5K Run in an effort to continue to bring the community together in a recreational fashion.

My wife, Silvia Mahan, is a member of AVWC. Because of my relationship with this organization, it is appropriate for the full Council to approve this grant.
