O
n February 1, 2005, the City Council adopted Resolution No. 72517 which requires Councilmembers to submit a memorandum to the Rules Committee regarding proposed City Council sponsored Special Events and the proposed use of any funds.
T
he City Hall lighting display is set to recognize the passing and pay tribute to the late Eddie Gale who passed on July 10, 2020. Eddie was named “San Jose’s Ambassador of Jazz” by former San Jose Mayor, Norman Y. Mineta, for his work in bringing Jazz Music to schools.
Eddie helped develop music programs in San Jose schools, brought diverse communities together, elevated San Jose culture, and fundraised for as well as drew crowds in to many public community events over the years.
I
n his role as “San Jose’s Ambassador of Jazz”, Eddie Gale brought honor to himself and the people of San Jose, especially musicians and youth, by using Jazz to elevate the City’s culture, pride, community peace and intergenerational interaction. For this these reasons, and countless others, we would like to light the City Hall Tower and the Rotunda in honor of Eddie Gale beginning August 15, 2022 through August 19, 2022.
