SUBJECT: UPDATE TO THE AUGUST - DECEMBER 2022 PUBLIC SAFETY,
FINANCE AND STRATEGIC SUPPORT COMMITTEE WORK PLAN
RECOMMENDATION
Approve an amendment to the August – December 2022 Public Safety, Finance and Strategic Support Committee Work Plan to add the following item to the December 15, 2022 meeting and quarterly thereafter:
Recruitment, Hiring and Retention Strategies Status Report.
Purpose: Provide a verbal status report on recruitment, hiring and retention strategies. (Human Resources)
BACKGROUND
Staff requests to add an item to the December 15, 2022 Public Safety, Finance and Strategic Support Committee meeting related to providing a verbal update on recruitment, hiring and retention strategies. This report will be made quarterly thereafter.
Staff was directed to do this through the approval of the 2022 – 2023 Adopted Operating Budget in June 2022. The City Council recognized that the work being done to address hiring and recruitment challenges is complicated, ongoing, and may require additional policy steps to fully execute. It was recommended that staff provide verbal reports quarterly to the Public Safety, Finance, and Strategic Support Committee on progress, challenges, and opportunities for the City Council to provide additional support to this project.
