Subject: Allowing Non-Ci zens the Right to Vote
Dear Councilmember
I want to comment on this evenings SJ City Council Meeting whereby a vote may be taken to allow non-citizens the right to vote in our elections.
Being able to vote in our Country, the United States of America, should remain only for those who are citizens and have shown they respect and know our Country's system and laws.
Allowing non-citizens to vote lowers the respect for our voting system for both non-citizens and citizens and especially for all who have come before either naturally or waited for years to become Citizens by using our process in place to do so.
I thought "fairness" counted for all in our Country and how is being fair?
I therefore request that you do NOT allow non-citizens to vote in our elections and set a precedent here for the rest of the Country to use going forward.
Thank you for your time.

Subject: Non-Ci zen Vo ng in San Jose, California? 8/23/22
Dear San Jose City Council members and City Clerk Patrick McGarrity:
I have been informed that the San Jose City Council will hear an initiative today to allow non-citizens, legal or otherwise, to vote in municipal elections! This is the perfect counterpoint to our wide-open southern border.
In May the Council voted to allow non-citizens to participate on boards and commissions.
And now you are taking it a step further by considering whether to approve non-citizen voting.
Unbelievable!
The only conclusion that I can draw from this is that you are all either bribed or blackmailed
to even consider such a treasonous action.
If you vote for this, I suggest that you ask God to forgive you for that sin against the greatest country on Earth and her people.
I agree with this person:

And if you don't need citizenship to vote, why do you need to be a citizen to be elected? So, at what point do we end up with CCP members as Mayor and Councilmembers and in control of our city?”
Sincerely,

Subject: NO to Non-Ci zen vo ng
Hello all,
I am writing to ask that we DON'T allow citizens to vote in our city let along in our State and Country. We have a rule of law here, if you are not a citizen, you can vote in our USA Elections.
This goes/violates our Constitution. The Founding Fathers put this in place for We The People because they knew tyrannical government will sneak our our system as it has or this would not be a discussion for tonight. This was voted down in NYC and San Francisco because we have the Constitution, this is a wasted of time and our tax payor money. We the People don't want this for our city of San Jose.
Thank you,
Zoila Rollins

hi, all
As a ci zen of the United States and a resident of San Jose, I would like to say strong NO to Non-Ci zens Vo ng in San Jose, simply because vo ng is the right of the ci zen only. You can propose other ways to make non-ci zen's voice heard, but definitely not through vo ng. I doubt the non-ci zen vo ng could be even uncons tu onal.
best,
Wen

Good Afternoon:
I encourage you to consider carefully the suggestion that non-citizens have the right to vote, and I urge you to vote "NO" on this proposal.
Voting is a right and responsibility that comes with citizenship. Those who want to vote need to follow the proper steps to gain citizenship. This right should not just be handed someone just because they live in a particular place.
Thank you,
Diana and Perry Muzyka

Dear Mayor,
As a citizen of San Jose, I am not in favor and strongly oppose the initiative to allow non-citizens, legal or otherwise, to vote in municipal elections. Look what the open-border has done to our country! Every person must go through the process of becoming a legal citizen before voting.
Thank you!

Subject: Non Ci zen Vo ng
Dear Members,
As a ci zen of the United States I am asking that you preserve the right for ONLY ci zens to vote. If non ci zens want to vote then they should become ci zens, work hard, study, and then legally have the right to vote. Just as so many non ci zens did before these here they worked hard and became ci zens and were able to vote legally. According to the cons tu on vo ng is a right.
Every other country also only allows ci zens to vote. They have not allowed non ci zens to vote or passed any laws allowing non ci zens to vote. Becoming a ci zen is about responsibility and it is important that we con nue to have everyone strive for that goal.
I am asking you to vote down this ini a ve and say NO.
Thank you for listening.
Sincerely,
Annamarie Varo

You don't often get email from Learn why this is important
Dear Mayor Liccardo,
I cannot believe that my city is actually considering non-citizens to take part and vote in municipal elections. How is this decision helpful? And for what reason? I understand that in May the Council allowed non-citizens to join various boards and commisions. That is fine for public testimony and comments but actually voting if not a citizen is the wrong decision.
At whatever level, voting is a right and responsibility designated for citizens only. Period! With the huge influx of immigrants coming to this country don't reduce the importance of citizenship. Individuals have always felt strongly being a citizen of this country. Don't destroy the honor and prevledge and importance of being a citizen.

This is an outrage!
How can someone vote in intelligently if they are not even a citizen? Our veterans died, so that a one party system can be put in place.
People who vote for this, hate America.

I implore you to please not allow non-ci zens to vote in city elec ons. Only legal ci zens are en tled to that privilege and pay the taxes to do so. This is a slippery slope, that will lead to the demise of our sovereignty.
