PDC21-011, PD21-012/ER21-135, PT21-034 - Planned Development Rezoning, Planned Development Permit, and Vesting Tentative Map on Certain Real Property Located on the North Side of Cambrianna Drive, Approximately 150 feet Westerly of Taper Avenue (1975 Cambrianna Drive) (Cambrian School District, Owner)
Dear Ms. Meiners and to whom if may concern,
I just want to briefly write you with my support for the above identified development project. I have followed the entire process
of the project from the beginning. I believe the project to be reasonable, responsible, and to have given great consideration to the current neighbors while fulfilling the highest-and-best- use standard. The bottom line is: The school district needs this be approved for its future financial health. My most honest opinion is the Cambrian School District has been—and will continue to be—a good and honest actor, and neighbor to Cambrian.

Many thanks for your consideration,

S. Todd Nelson

Dear San Jose City Council,
My name is Beth Erickson and I am long-time resident in the Cambrian School District in San Jose. I am an active parent in the schools (at both Elementary and Middle Schools). I have spent countless hours volunteering my time to raise funds for the school and also campaigning for various bond measures throughout the years. As part of this, I am writing to urge you to vote to proceed with the project referenced in agenda item 10.2. This project is critical to close the funding gap that our district has to adequately fund our children’s education.

Over the years, I have seen enrollment decrease, and thus our state funding has decreased.

We cannot continue to
rely solely on state funding, parent fundraising, and other small grants to fund our student’s education. In recent years, the district has made strides in finding new sources of revenue for our district and this has helped. This project on the agenda will further serve to enhance our revenue streams while keeping the current neighborhood in mind. Robson Homes has reworked the designs due to neighborhood feedback and this project should be supported by the City Council to allow our district to continue to flourish.

My son spoke in front of the City Council about 2 years ago as this project was just getting started. He is now in 7th grade and enjoying all that Ida Price Middle School has to offer. Without this project being approved, many of those programs may be threatened for my 5th grade daughter and the countless of students that follow them. This is a close-knit district that needs this project to move forward so that all the things that make it special can be continued for many years to come.

Thank you for your time and attention,
Beth Erickson
