To Honorable Mayor and City Council
I am writing to urge you to complete the Mobile Home Park General Plan Land Use designation work for the remaining 56 mobilehome parks in San Jose. This is a straightforward and comparatively inexpensive opportunity to protect the City’s 35,000 mobilehome residents and preserve the 10,000 mobilehomes that constitute some of the last naturally affordable housing stock in the City.
My husband and I are residents of . I am a
healthcare worker, and my husband is in financial services. Despite 2 full time incomes, we could never afford to buy a conventional home in San Jose. Buying a mobilehome was the most affordable option for us and gives us the best quality of life. However, in this unstable economy, there is always the risk that our park can be redeveloped, and we could lose our home. Many of the residents in our community are retired and living on social security. Some of our neighbors have lived here for 20+ years. We are members of this community and deserve the peace of mind to know our homes are protected.

As a mobile home owner living in I urge you to vote in giving all mobile home parks in San Jose the Mobilehome Park Land Use Designation.
It is imperative that we homeowners are protected against the selling of park lands for dense housing.
