Subject: Keep Coyote Valley free of industrial projects Some people who received this message don't often get email from Learn why this is important Dear Mayor Liccardo and Councilmembers,
As a Silicon Valley resident with a long-time awareness of, & interest in, the effort to preserve Coyote Valley as undeveloped land, I urge you to vigorously oppose the new plans to build power generation or storage facilities in this vital open space, & advocate with the California Energy Commission against approving that proposal.
Were the CEC to approve the developers’ request, it would undermine the decision made just a year ago to protect Coyote Valley, for the many benefits it offers in its current form: flood protection, climate resilience, wildlife habitat, and productive local farming.
As much as we may need new investments in energy, Coyote Valley is not the place for such a facility. Please fight for the choice San Jose made, thought to have settled the matter, to preserve Coyote Valley as a protected place for open space and agriculture. Please don’t let would-be developers use the legal loophole for energy projects to undermine the work you did to preserve Coyote Valley as a natural resource.
Thank you for your consideration of this serious threat to such a huge & recent accomplishment, and for your continued climate leadership, Dawn Isis

Dear Mayor Liccardo and Councilmembers,
As a long-time San José resident and co-founder of Mothers Out Front Silicon Valley, I urge you to advocate vigorously with the California Energy Commission to protect Coyote Valley. It’s very important that they respect San Jose’s leadership in protecting Coyote Valley and deny the request of developers proposing to build power storage facilities in this vital open space.
If the CEC were to approve the developers’ request, it would undermine the decision that you made—with popular support from your constituents—to protect Coyote Valley as open space for flood protection, climate resilience, wildlife habitat, and farmland.
I ask you to fight to keep the promise you made last November to preserve Coyote Valley as a protected place for open space and agriculture. Please don’t let the landowners use the Energy Commission to undermine the great work you did and allow industrial energy projects in Coyote Valley.
Thank you for your continued climate leadership,
Linda Hutchins-Knowles, District 9

Some people who received this message don't often get email from Learn why this is important Dear Mayor Liccardo and Councilmembers,
As a registered voter in District 3 and a supporter of Mothers Out Front and other environmental organizations, I urge you to deny the request of developers proposing to build power storage facilities in Coyote Valley. This proposal is clearly contradictory to what I thought was a City of San José commitment to preserve Coyote Valley as a protected place for open space and agriculture.
With all the development and building throughout our region, it is essential that we have open areas for flood protection, climate resilience, wildlife habitat, and farmland as well as space to breathe and enjoy the outdoors!
Please do everything in your power to make sure that the California Energy Commission does not override our City of San José position and denies the proposed project in order to ensure a sustainable future for future generations.
Thank you for your attention to this critical matter,
Lisa Feldberg
