SUBJECT: JOINT MEETINGS
RECOMMENDATION
Direct the City Manager to add joint hearings between the Neighborhood Services Committee and the Public Safety, Finance, & Strategic Support Committee and their County counterparts in the upcoming year, to the committee workplans, in coordination with the County Board of Supervisors and administration.
BACKGROUND
In the last few years, joint public meetings between the Neighborhood Services Committee and the Public Safety, Finance, & Strategic Support Committee with the Board of Supervisors committee counterparts have both had highly successful outcomes. These joint hearings have led to new workplans, policies, and joint funding strategies on Gender Based Violence and Child and youth services.
Both efforts have led to workplans, master plans, and ongoing collaborative efforts both between committees and their elected members and the city and county administrations.
As the new workplans for our city committees are updated this next year, this memorandum requests that new joint meetings be included in those workplans for both NSE and PSFSS.
