I am writing to express my wholehearted support for San Jose Police Sergeant Tam Truong to be appointed as the next Council member for District 8.

Sergeant Truong has served in many law enforcement capacities, from Deputy Sheriff to Police Officer and from Detective to Police Sergeant, in service to the Santa Clara County and San Jose City communities. He has demonstrated a lifelong commitment to ensuring justice and building equity that reflects his genuine passion for serving our community. As a law enforcement official and father, Sergeant Truong is well-prepared to take on our city’s most pressing issues, with a strong focus on public safety, economic vitality, and ensuring that housing is affordable for generations to come.

As a 37-year resident of District 8 and having lived right across the street from Sergeant Truong for several years previously, I have seen him in action firsthand. He is approachable, reasonable, and has excellent communication skills. He has proven himself to be an independent thinker who considers all relevant information before making his own analysis and decisions independent of outside persuasion or influence. He is a man of great ethics who will bring a commitment to integrity and service to the San Jose community.

Having worked at NASA for over 40 years and currently serving on both San Jose Police Chief Anthony Mata's LGBTQ+ community liaison committee and as a Santa Clara County HIV Commissioner, I know the importance of community service. I see that same strong belief and commitment in Police Sergeant Tam Truong.

I have every confidence in Police Sergeant Tam Truong and I believe he is an excellent choice to represent and serve District 8 residents. I know he will provide San Jose with the kind of leadership of which we can all be proud. I am writing this email in support of appointment of Sukhdev S. Bainiwal to the city council on District 8 seat.

I am a duly elected member of the Sikh Gurdwara San Jose board of directors and serving as its vice president.

I am a resident of San Jose district 10 and have known Sukhdev Bainiwal for over 30 years. Right from his young age he has been a community volunteer. First, he worked with youth in our community to guide them towards sports and other healthy habits. Later reach of his volunteer activities extended to whole of San Jose and beyond the Sikh community.

Every year he organizes a 5K walk in which hundreds of people participate. The proceeds from the walk are used to provide blankets and other supplies to the homeless. For several years every month he along with some other volunteers he arranged hot meals for the people in a homeless shelter. He worked very hard in the community during COVID time & Natural Disaster time. He worked with Mountain view Police department to distribute food packages to the needy. He also organized distribution of masks and food supplies in district 8.

He organized vaccination drives
which benefited thousands of the district 8 and San Jose city residents. He has also served on several city boards/commissions to improve the city services.
