Dear Mayor and Councilmembers
I have worked in the San Jose community with Sukhdev S. Bainiwal for 15 years, and highly recommend him for the District 8 Appointment.
Sukhdev deeply understands how to balance the needs of underserved communities and the general community. As one of the early, foundational board members of Silicon Valley Interreligious Council, he has a lot of experience listening to community members and helping find compromises and solutions to concerns. He has been a reliable partner to diverse communities, always bringing his presence, his intelligence and his moral voice to practical actions. All who know Sukhdev appreciate him as a trusted member of the community who never fails to show up and be engaged. I have also worked with two of Sukhdev's daughters as par t of the Teen Interfaith Leadership Council, and I know Sukhdev has the capacity to connect with people of diverse ages, backgrounds and life experiences. In many difference capacities, Sukhdev has long been dedicated to the District 8 community and San Jose. Appointing him to represent District 8 on the City Council would be a logical extension of his many years of dedication and community support.
Sincerely,
Diane Fisher

Honorable Mayor and Council Members,
Subject: Support for Sukhdev Singh Bainiwal for District 8
I have been resident of San Jose since last 40 years personally known Sukhdev Singh Bainiwal and his Late father Jit Singh Baniwal since last 35 years. Baniwal family has served the Sikh Community whole heartedly.
Sukhdev has provided outstanding community services over years. To show his commitment to take care of the poor and homeless, about 10 years he started community Guru Nanak (First Guru and founder of Sikhism) Walk with sole purpose of raising funds to buy blankets for the homeless. Many times he was at the forefront for providing hot meal services for the homeless, started Sikh cultural events at San Jose Sharks games, actively involved at July 4th parade in San Jose and various other activities.
When COVID19 spread through out the world, Sukhdev joined hands with several other volunteers to take care of 12 Sikh Gurdwara employees who were infected. In April 2021, in New Delhi, India virus was spreading rapidly.
Sukhdev with other volunteers acquired 100 oxygen concentrators from China, raised funds for them, and have them delivered to the Delhi Gurdwara Management Committee to distribute them where needed.
Therefore, I support Sukhdev Singh Baniwal for District 8 appointment. I assure you that you will see results of his relentless services yourself after his appointment
Best Regards,
Harinder Anand
